A first estimate

Written by Romain on Monday, 21 of January 2008 at 16:33

Some news today, with the fast answer of Connaisseurs du Voyage about my request.

It seems that only one itinerary is availabe regarding the cities that i had selected…Here is the trip they now suggest me :

Paris - Montreal // San Francisco - Mexico - Rio de Janeiro // Sao Paulo - Buenos Aires - Santiago - Sydney // Adelaide - Bombay - Madras /// Katmandou - Bangkok // Ho Chi Minh - Shanghai // Pekin - Helsinki - Paris

For 3950 € + 750 € of taxes

Here is the same travel on a map :

I choose to leave Australia from Sydney, and confirmation of my last trip from Pekin to Helsinki is curently on stand by…

This itinerary looks good (even though expensive…) despite of some modifications that i would like to add

I then sent the travel agency another email asking if it could be possible for me to books flights for the following trips :

Paris - Montreal // Los Angeles - Mexico - Rio // Sao Paulo - Buenos Aires - Santiago - Sydney - Madras (ou Bombay) // Katmandou - Bangkok // Ho Chi Minh - Shanghai // Pekin - Moscou (ou Saint Petersbourg or any other eastern country other than Finland) - Paris (or Lyon ?)

In the meantime, I had the opportunity to discuss with Eric, a friend also graduate from IDRAC, who lived with me in Scotland fora year in 2005, who’s already travelled with me in Europe, and who is for sure the most “travel addicted” person i know. He’s actually 26, and i really think that he could be the perfect partner, thanks to his knowledge of some big regions of the world (such as south of Asia), his iron will, his love for life and his maturity. Eric seems actually interested to travel a bit with me. However, he well encouraged me to change my itinerary in order to save flights, especially between China and Russia. It will then allow me to meet more people during the trip and to see much more amazing landscapes, thanks to the transsiberian train !

We must talk about it soon. In the meantime, i’m waiting the answer from Connaisseurs du voyage.

But according to the price of their previous estimate, i think it should be more advantageous to find a solution with less flights, with companies such as Star Alliance, to maximize “terrestrial experiences”. What are you thinking of this idea ?

About me

I'm a 23 years old young graduate, living in Lyon, France and who is preparing for a 12 months trip around the world. The purpose of this travel is to fully comprehend the international environment by looking through different people’s eyes. Together we will be learning about each countries values and beliefs, fears and dreams, worries and concerns through pictures, people’s stories and my experiences. Hopefully, this will bring a new point of view, a new perspective over the world’s view.
