How to finance your world tour ?

Here is a very important question. Indeed, it’s always “easy” to imagine yourself traveling the world, but reality is often different. One year trip around the world is firstly a huge investment. I already explained it in my sponsorship report, I estimated equipment and everyday’s life costs (including food and accomodation) at approximately 12 500 euros. This estimate is not including the total cost of flight tickets already bought (3400 euros) as well as intra-country trips. It is then more likely that the overall cost of my one year trip around the world becomes closer from 18 000/19 000 euros.

Since the final countdown started, I’m actually facing more and more questions about the way I’m planning to finance this huge trip…

First of all, I started to work for the eDisplay company few months ago.This company is specialized in webmarketing solutions and is offering through its SendBlaster product a free emailing software. eDisplay is a growing Italian company which was looking for a french webmaster in order to develop a french version of its website to reach more customers. The french version is now online and I’m still working for the company as support team. As a consequence, every month I’m getting money from teleworking.

Then, I started one week ago to work for Lyon Parc Auto as an operating officer. I’m currently undergoing training and will be soon able to manage 3 car parks in Lyon. I’ll work there until my departure, that will be the 1st of December. Finally, I’m keeping looking for sponsorship and I really hope to get a bit of money from sponsors with whom negociations already started. I also hope I’ll be able to talk about it soon !

The strongest advice I would give to finance your world tour is to save money and take care of your expenses, in order to avoid financial problems during the trip. I used to be an extravagant person and I’m really counting on this project to change myself !
