Montmorency waterfalls’s video

Written by Romain on Monday, 15 of December 2008 at 0:02

Here is the Montmorency waterfalls’s video, the place where I almost lost my hands (That would have be a pity..). It’s short but intense, so have fun while waiting the others from Tadoussac and the ones from the sled dogs (you’ll love it I swear !) which will be online in few coming days ! Tomorrow, I’m leaving Montréal to reach Toronto for some days. Next post from there, and then : USA !

Tadoussac…I’ll be back

Written by Romain on Sunday, 14 of December 2008 at 23:35

One recommanded me this youth hostel in Tadoussac, but I wasn’t expecting living such a strong experience. I’m writting these lines from a restaurant located just above the famous Saint Laurent. The bus is currently stopped for a 40mn break (I’m coming back to Québec where i have to meet three Canadian people who drive to Montréal, where i will spend two more days before leaving to Toronto and the USA). It’s snowing again and we currently get 20 more centimeters from the past night. And it’s really an experience to travel by bus when the road is “white” here ! You have to trust the driver !

Many thanks to Serge, Guillaume (what a nice poker game !), Linda (I hope Santa Claus will bring you what you want !), Captain Ivan for being such a nice person , Ing (for his wine and his hapiness even at 6 o’ clock in the morning), André for his amazing welcome, Isabelle for her help, Anne-Marie for being such a cool barmaid (enjoy the music !), Coco for the very cool trip in the forest, Yohann for the travel to ‘ferme 5 étoiles” with his magic van (one day, I’ll go fishing with you) , DG, Michel, Janis and Marie Claire for the amazing time we spent with you and your dogs (I will never forget it), Tommy and of course Céline. And also the ones I forgot..

Ing, Céline, Myself, Ivan and André

Thanks to all of you who helped me to enjoy Tadoussac as a wonderful experience. The Tadoussac Youth Hostel is part of these places that you don’t want to leave once you lived there (I was really disapointed to leave and I would have really spend few months there). It’s also a wonderful opportunity to take a break in your life and to enjoy the life through their community. I will be back, that’s for sure. I will never forget these 4 days that I spent with you, the smell of trees in the forest, the cold wait to see whales, the taste of your maple pancakes during the breakfast, these long trips on the beach, these crazy poker games, these amazing talks with you, all these things that help to build a MAN.I left Tadoussac with the feeling to have spiritualy grown.

Tadoussac is this kind of place that will help you to forget your daily life. When we left with Céline, André (The Boss) told us “If ever you have hard times in your life, come back to us, you will be always welcome here”. André, when you will read this post, be sure that we are thanking you for everything, for your words full of sagesse, your smile, your warm welcome. Tadoussac, it was like a second house for me, I was feeling good at your place. God bless this place, god bless you all.

Tadoussac

If ever you want to visit this beutiful place and to meet its inhabitants, you can’t miss this “Auberge de Jeunesse” located at the village’s entrance (and if ever you have a beer at their bar, you will see that I left a souvenir there…). You can go there by bus, and you can also buy return tickets in the “Auberge” (around a hundred canadian dollars for a one day ticket Tadoussac-Montréal). And please tell them “Hi” for me (and don’t forget to ask “La Fin du Monde” to Anne-Marie at the bar). Pictures are here.

While searching “Tadoussac” on YouTube, I found this video shot during the summer there. There is much more people and it gives you an idea of the spirit there.

I would also take time to thank all the people who sent me emails recently. I’ve received so many nice and touching words. One again, thank you for everything and if you want to meet me, feel free to fill up this form !

Québec under the snow

Written by Romain on Monday, 8 of December 2008 at 8:20

Frontenac’s castle

There am I in Québec. This city has a real spirit, an atmosphere that you feel very comfortable with. As usual, I spent these two days walking in these very quiet and charmful streets. I took some pictures in front of the Chateau de Frontenac, I’ve walked along the “promenade des Gouverneurs”, and I’ve also enjoy a lot the famous rue Saint-Jean which is part of the Old Québec. I’ve tried to eat some maple on the snow (you’ll see it soon in video), met a lot of very cool people (Denis, Stéphane, Marie, Joëlle, Noémie, Valérie, Mathieu, Caroline and also Léa, i’m sure you’ll enjoy the music !). If you’re in Québec, I’m really recommanding the Youth Hostel “Auberge de la paix“, located Rue des Couillards, in the Old area of Québec. For 20 canadian $ a night, you get a warm welcome, breakfast, Wireless  internet access, a shared kitchen (and they even play nice reggae music inside). I was lucky to get some snow and I really appreciated it. A new video is coming soon (with some guest inside such as Santa Claus !). Tomorrow morning, I’m leaving Québec to the Montmorency waterfalls, which are higher than the Niagara ones, and that are located at 45 minutes from Québec by bus. Then, I’ll go to Tadoussac, a few hours in the north from Québec, hopefully to see some whales (they’re normally gone) and to discover national protected areas.

On my way to Québec

Written by Romain on Saturday, 6 of December 2008 at 12:56

It’s currently 5.27 in the morning, I’m coming back from a nice party with a friend from Lyon (Cyril for the ones who know him), and in few hours, I’m leaving to the north, in Québec first, for only 13 canadian dollars. I’ll travel with a man who is driving to Québec, thanks to the rideshare system AlloStop. This is not yet very clear in my mind but I’ll probably go in a few days to Tadoussac (around 5 hours driving in the north from Québec) in order to see whales. And there is also a lot of protected natural zone around. I need nature. And I need to be lost in it. To face the coldest temperatures (I’m expecting -20°C with snow according friends of mine who have ever been there). Before this trip, here is a new video of my past two days in Montréal. Next step : Québec ! Tabarnark !

Day 2 & 3 in Montréal

Written by Romain on Thursday, 4 of December 2008 at 18:29

Today, let’s discover Montréal with some new friends of mine (these little squirrels that I love so much !). It’s already my 4th day here and i will have to leave soon. I’m planning to travel to Québec this week end thanks to a nice rideshare company called AlloStop. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it and it allows you to share the trip’s costs while meeting people ! Anyway, here’s the video. Have fun !

About me

I'm a 26 years old young graduate, living in Lyon, France and who traveled 12 months around the world. The purpose of this travel was to fully comprehend the international environment by looking through different people’s eyes. Together we will be learning about each countries values and beliefs, fears and dreams, worries and concerns through pictures, people’s stories and my experiences. Hopefully, this will bring a new point of view, a new perspective over the world’s view. About me
